The Rhinoplasty, or plastic surgery of the nose, is a complex surgical procedure that is indicated to promote the harmonious balance of the face, as to improve breathing conditions that some patients need.
The surgery is planned according to the complaints and imperfections presented by each patient. Those imperfections can vary from a simple removal of the bone saliency of the back of the nose to the thinning and elevation of the nasal tip, with decrease of the nasal wings. The definite result is usually noticed starting from the 12nd month, and it should be performed in patients 18 years or older.
In the rhinoplasty we can use either local anesthesia or general anesthesia, as in the cases where it is necessary the bone fracture. The surgery usually lasts about 3 hours, being necessary, in some cases, the placement of a nasal immobilizer similar to a plaster, the aquaplast, which should be removed between the 10th and 14th day. The surgery can be done with internal incisions or when necessary, with some low external incisions, almost imperceptible.
